UCR Summer Physics Teachers Academy
The Summer Physics Academy for High School Physics teachers is hosted annually by the UCR Department of Physics and Astronomy. Each year, approximately 24 high school educators are selected to participate in the week long academy in which hands-on activities, pedagogy discussions, and research presentations allow educators to refresh their learning and network with other physics educators. The Summer Physics Teacher Academy has been hosted uninterrupted since 2008.
The UCR Summer Physics Academy is a 4-day learning opportunity for high school physics teachers at every level of teaching experience.
The academy is organized and facilitated by physics faculty. Topics include:
- Review of topics included in AP Physics 1 and 2 exams.
- Special module on artificial intelligence (AI) and discussion about best usage in class
- Refresh your content knowledge and augment your classroom materials with demonstrations and examples provided
- Learn about current scientific research and discoveries by UCR faculty (materials to show/distribute in your classrooms!)
- Network with UCR faculty, students and other teachers
