A few words of caution:

  • The little magnet is quite strong.  Keep it away from cards with magnetic strips, such as credit cards, and computer hard drives!
  • If the battery or wire starts heating up, disconnect the wire.  If the spinning wire gets stuck, this may happen.  The conductivity of the copper wire is very high, so you can drain the energy stored in the battery very quickly if you connect the ends of the battery with the wire and leave it that way.  Don't do that!
