Postdoctoral Position in CMB Data Analysis

Academic Coordinator - Department of Physics
Position description
The Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of California invites applicants to apply for a full-time Academic Coordinator career level position in the Department of Physics and Astronomy for Lower Division Physics Laboratory Instruction in Riverside, CA. The Academic Coordinator will be responsible for managing instructional, administrative, and safety activities in support of the lower division laboratory course program. Duties include curriculum development, TA training and oversight, supervision of teaching assistants, enrollment management and course scheduling, overseeing the day-to-day operation of the laboratories, demonstration development for lower division classes, and safety assessment for lower division instructional and research labs. All activities will be conducted in conjunction with relevant faculty members, as designated by the department chairperson.
Basic qualifications for this position that must be met by the date of application include: Demonstrates excellence in teaching and laboratory management is required.
Preferred qualifications for this position include: A Ph.D. in Physics or related field is preferred, and experience with laboratory curriculum development, innovation in teaching, educational grant writing, and experience in experimental research is desirable.

Assistant Professor - Neutrino Physics, Particle Astrophysics, Cosmology, and Gravitational Waves
Position description
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California invites highly qualified experimental physicists to apply for an academic-year tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the fields of Neutrino Physics, Particle Astrophysics, Cosmology and Gravitational Waves. We have recently made new faculty appointments in experimental gravitational waves, experimental dark matter searches, and cosmic microwave background observations. This appointment will complement them.
The UC salary consists of a base pay of $80,800 to $104,700 for Assistant Professors and additional off-scale to be commensurate with market value, qualifications and experiences. The off-scale portion of the salary will be maintained as long as satisfactory academic progress is made. Additionally, the off-scale will be maintained subject to market adjustments to the UC salary scale.

Financial Operations Manager
Position Information
The Financial Operations Manager (FOM) Facilitates the financial operations for the Department of Physics & Astronomy, which include contract & grant administration, purchasing, travel, and financial matters under the general supervision of the Financial and Administrative Officer (FAO); Fully responsible for departmental financial and administrative function in the FAO's absence. Directly supervises four employees and indirect supervision of additional support staff in the absence of the FAO. Exercises independent judgment in solving day-to-day operational problems and making recommendations concerning departmental resources, policies, practices, and operations. Anticipates operational problems and develops recommendations for review and implementation. The Department of Physics & Astronomy supports 44 faculty and 195 non-senate academics, postdocs, graduate students, and 15 administrative staff; $21 million dollars per year in expenditures and $10 million in extramural funding administered over 250 discreet fund sources; 80 proposals submitted per year; over 75,000 assignable square feet of space in 4 office and laboratory buildings. The full salary range for the Financial Operations Manager is $84,100 - $154,700 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $84,100 - $112,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
- BA in accounting or finance (Analyst III Supervisor); MBA, CPA, (Analyst IV-Supervisor) or other advanced education or certification in accounting or finances. (Preferred)
Experience Requirements

Minimum Requirements
- Solid knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols and procedures with a focus on budget, account and fund management and/or personnel management within labor contract(s) and personnel policy.
- Solid knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; accounting and payroll.
- Demonstrated skills in employee supervision and HR administration.
- Solid knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
- Solid organizational and customer service skills to effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Solid interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling to effectively motivate others.
- Solid skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify resolution.
- Experience preparing grant proposal and/or operational budgets
- Interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others.
- Demonstrated experience with pre-and post-award phases of contract & grant administration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an academic environment providing support for staff and/or faculty knowledge of current University policies and procedures and a working knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures which apply to this position.
